Decaf Sumatra "Telong"

caramel • fresh earth • tropical fruit

Description

A perfect compliment to ice cream or lighter desserts, our decaffeinated Sumatra "Telong" is a full-bodied fair trade organic decaf coffee with a sweet aroma and mellow finish. A medium-dark roast preserves the exotic wildness that Sumatran coffees are famous for, including notes of caramel, fresh earth and tropical fruit.

Our decaf Sumatra coffee comes from the scenic highland slopes of Aceh province in northern Sumatra. There are over 200 small coffee producers who contribute to this very important OCIA certified organic coffee production. The farmers and communities of this remote region face a number of environmental and socio-economic challenges, including soil erosion, deforestation, low and unstable incomes. The organization, production, technical assistance and higher prices for certified organic coffee help these remote farmers by being able to generate a better income for themselves and improve the economic basis in the communities.

Water process decaffeinated to preserve organic certification.

Our Coffee

Our coffee is Fair Trade certified according to the Fair for Life standard, Organic Certified by the Washington State Department of Agriculture and grown in shaded conditions by small farmer cooperatives. In addition, the complete carbon footprint (from crop to cup) for our coffee has been offset with tree planting, which qualifies it as a CarbonFree Certified product by CarbonFund.org. All of our coffee is roasted to order and shipped fresh daily. We package in air-tight, foil-lined bags with one-way degassing valves to preserve freshness.
